Configuring a Linux firewall to allow communication with the Unitrends backup system

If you are protecting a Linux machine with a firewall, you must configure the firewall to allow communication with the Unitrends backup system before you can register the Linux machine as a client. Follow the instructions below to perform the necessary configurations.

To configure a Linux firewall to allow communication with the Unitrends backup system

Modify the Linux machine’s firewall settings to allow ports 1743 and 1745.

Open a terminal or text editor with root access and log in as root.

Run the following command:

/usr/bp/bin/bputil -p “Configuration Options” data 1745 /usr/bp/bpinit/master.ini
