Microsoft SQL Protection

This chapter describes procedures used to protect your Microsoft SQL environments with agent-based backups. If your SQL server is a VMware virtual machine, you can either run vProtect application-aware backups as described in the VMware Protection chapter, or install the Windows agent and implement protection as described here. For a comparison of each strategy, see Best practices for protecting VMware virtual machines. If you’re using SQL 2000, see Legacy SQL Server agent.
