About the installation type

The installation type, also known as system personality or system identity, determines which functions the system can perform. Configure this setting in the Setup Wizard Select the installation type step. On systems that only support the backup system installation, this Setup Wizard step does not display. For a description of installation types supported by each system, see Installation types and replication.

Select one of the following installations.

Local backup system and replication target

The system will be used as both a backup and disaster recovery system. It can be used to protect data on the local area network as well as receive replicated data from one or more off-premise systems for disaster recovery.
