Special considerations for adding Hyper-V clusters

The Unitrends appliance must be able to resolve the name and IP address of every node in a Hyper-V cluster. When adding a cluster node to a Unitrends appliance, you must enter the correct IP address and the exact name of the node. If you enter an incorrect IP address or a name that does not exactly match the name of the node, backups will fail because the appliance will be unable to determine the owner of the VMs in the cluster configuration. Be sure to enter the correct hostname and IP address for every node in the cluster.

Before adding a cluster to the Unitrends appliance, you must install the agent on each cluster node and add it to the appliance. Follow these steps to add a cluster:

Step 1: Install the agent on each cluster node. (You can skip this step if agent push is supported for the version of Windows running on the cluster nodes. See Push installing the Windows agents.)
Step 2: Add each node to the Unitrends appliance using the instructions described in To add a client to the Unitrends appliance.
Step 3: Add the cluster using the instructions described in To add a client to the Unitrends appliance.
